WHAT IS THE GDG TECH SESSIONS?

Due to the constraints felt global due to the new pandemic, we all were forced to change the way we share knowledge with our community. At this time, and due to the imposition placed on respecting social distancing, the only way out is to turn events online. However, organising events online requires quite a bit of preparation from the organisers’ side, and our original thought was to help organisers all around the globe by providing a platform for online events and promoting their community, like WTM, DSC, or GDG.

In this very difficult moment, we would like to join forces and share relevant content with the entire community, regardless of the community or location. So, GDG Tech Sessions was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is here to stay! All our events will be available free of charge and online.

HOW THE EVENTS ARE GOING TO BE SHARED?

All the events under the GDG Tech Session initiative will be hosted on this Youtube channel. Also, to amplify the reach of these events in the community, we advertise your events on several social networks — Twitter, Facebook, Instagram —, and link it to a landing page to gather all the information in one place.

Feel free to share the event in your community! We will be creating social media banners/snippets to help the speakers and facilitating GDG, WTM, or DSC chapters to promote the event on social media! #gdgtechsessions

HOW WILL EACH EVENT BE BRANDED?

In order to provide visibility to other groups, we can add branding of your chapter to the event. The branding might be like GDG Tech Talks – GDG Edition (the GDG co-hoster), recognizing the participation of a specific GDG, WTM, or DSC.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR AN EVENT?

During this social isolation period, any WTM, DSC, or GDG chapter can apply to host an event open to the entire global technological community for a day, proposing a topic and the speaker — that could also be an independent speaker as well.

We are here to support you during the event, from initial contact to broadcasting. Keep in mind that you can always co-host the event with other local GDG, WTM, or DSC chapters.

Right now, we need to be together more than ever! And to have fun!

HOW CAN I PROPOSE AN EVENT?

Through this form, you can choose one of the topics you want to address and join this online initiative.

HOW THE CONTENTS WILL BE SELECTED?

Through the content committee, where we are going to invite other organizers to help with the selection process using the following criteria:

  • Availability of dates and topics, balancing the technical complexity of the talks, assuming general public;
  • Only one event will be hosted for each day and we can’t have the same topic on consecutive days/events;
  • Topics:
    • Google related tech, e.g. Android, Flutter, lite-elements, PWA, machine learning, cloud computing…
    • Education
    • Diversity —  it can be non-related with Google technologies.
WHO CAN ENROL AT THIS EVENT?

EVERYONE CAN JOIN US!

If you have any questions, reach at host organizers by sending a message geral@tech-sessions.com.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM TIME FOR EACH SESSION?

For each talk, we recommend the length of 30 minutes + 10 minutes of Q&A for each speaker. If it’s needed more time, please specify this when submitting the form.

I’M AVAILABLE TO BE A SPEAKER BUT I DON’T BELONG TO ANY GDG CHAPTER. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

That’s fine! Just submit the form and specify that you don’t belong to any chapters.

However, we still recommend that you get in touch with the nearest GDG chapter and ask if they can represent you. We suggest that to help both you and the local communities to get to know each other. You can find all the chapters here.
